Tribhuvan University (TU) is holding elections for the Free Student Union (FSU) on March 19

Tribhuvan University (TU) is preparing to hold elections for the Free Student Union (FSU) on March 19. Originally scheduled for March 12, the date was pushed back by a week after consultation with several student unions.

The TU Student Welfare Council and Sports Directorate met today and suggested to the TU Executive Council that the election be held on the specified date.

The date was recommended with the opinions of student unions, exams, and student enrollment schedules in mind, and it is anticipated to be ratified by the Council very soon, according to Directorate executive director Prof Pashupati Adhikari.

For a long time, FSU elections in TU and its component and affiliated schools have been halted. As he stated, the FSU election central monitoring coordination committee would be formed by the TU Executive Council.

Previously, TU met with all of the presidents of the Student Unions to discuss the election date. The unions are supposed to have agreed on this day. It had met with TU office bearers, department heads, deans of all nine faculties, and the Controller of Examinations to discuss the situation.

The TU is made up of 62 constituent campuses and 1040 associate campuses. The FSU election has an age restriction of 28 years and a mixed electoral system. The FSU election was held for the first time on TU campuses in 2073 BS, with the provisions of an age restriction and a mixed electoral system in effect.
